(GOD, HONOR, AND FATHERLAND) ~From the manual of Panzer Grenadier Division Grossdeutschland
"What does Grossdeutschland mean to the individual Soldat serving within the Regiment?
"The Soldaten's honor lies in his unconditional service to the death for the People and the Fatherland.
"Being the heart of the German Army, born from the Wacht (fire brigade) Regiment Berlin, with the best Soldaten from all Germany, this INFANTERIE REGIMENT GROSSDEUTSCHLAND should set the example for loyalty, diligence, humility, and steadfastness.
"After the onset of war, the priority of this army, as is that of the entire Wehrmacht (military), is the security of our Great Fatherland:
~ as the home of all German people,
~ as the idea of social law and order,
~ as keeper of thousand-year-old German traditions."

This was the creed of the individual soldier of WWII Grossdeutschland. But what about today's reenactor?
We find great satisfaction in honoring military heroes (veterans) of all eras and all nationalities. A great many reenactors had actively served in the military themselves and enjoy the lasting commeraderie to be found among others in the reenacting hobby.
And together, we all seek to teach our own and the next generation what daily life for the average soldier during World War II was like; not only during a battle scene with bombs dropping and bullets flying, but behind the lines digging trenches, fixing machinery, filling out paperwork, cleaning weapons and preparing food. All these things and more were part of military life.
